About the Artists:

Caia Oritz

Caia is a Senior at New Mexico State University majoring in Criminal Justice. She is from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has been a member of the Executive Branch of the Associated Students of New Mexico State University since 2022 and currently serves as the Chief of Staff. Caia is a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity and the NMSU Panhellenic Executive Council. She hopes to pursue a career in team and project management and continue to advocate for the needs of her community.

micaela Lara Cadena

Micaela Lara Cadena is an activist and policymaker grateful to call the Mesilla Valley home. She knows that arts, cultural, and higher education institutions have always cultivated creative and necessary forms of political expression, even when free speech and political dissent are under attack. Micaela is honored to be a State Representative in New Mexico’s House District 33 (including NMSU main campus).

Clayton Abbey

Clayton Abbey was named Assistant Vice President of Government and Community Relations at New Mexico State University in July of 2023. Abbey’s top priorities in this role are fortifying existing relationships with legislators and stakeholders across the state and continuing to build new relationships within the communities served by NMSU. Abbey believes the Office of Government and Community Relations has a critical role in advocating for the university system’s priorities and helping lawmakers and policymakers fully understand the impact of its teaching, research and outreach work.
